It’s still August 22 in Vancouver, as the birthdays of both a family member and an actor continue. Happy Birthday to both! And many happy returns!
Yesterday’s total eclipse put me in mind of Season 3, Episode 1 of Robin Hood. This is the moment when Sir Guy sees the total eclipse of the sun… and then Robin, back from the dead. (Where are Guy’s solar eclipse glasses??) Once again, his plans have been foiled, this time by the sun and the moon themselves. Poor Guy. He just can’t win.
Now, for the rest of the evening, I plan to begin watching Sparkhouse for the first time. My copy arrived from Amazon today!
Hope you enjoy it — Sparkhouse is really special, I think, among his early work.

I have the DVD too and have watched it several times. Like Servetus I think it’s pretty special. I’m always amazed at how he can transform himself into a totally different person in such a way that you forget it’s him.
Slightly OT but when I watch other British shows filmed in the same area I love when place names I first heard of in Sparkhouse are mentioned: e.g Hebden Bridge.

RA’s first few scenes keeping his head down you can barely see his face — he’s so awkward! I’m really liking the other actors too.

It was really well cast, I thought, for something that was not a prestige project. Alun Armstrong, Celia Imrie, Nicholas Farrell. And Sarah Smart ended up in Wallander.

Hope you like it! I sure did. Want to watch it again now that I’ve actually been to Yorkshire this past summer.

I’m liking it a lot. I’ve gotten distracted by other things the past couple of nights, so I haven’t finished it yet.
