It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like…

… Christmas! After taking a break yesterday and buying some stocking stuffers at a nearby shop that sells local arts, crafts, and delicacies, I finally am starting to feel a bit of Christmas spirit!

The town and beyond is starting to have a wintery, holiday look.

I bought a new Santa for my display above the stairs.

And our old tree was falling apart, so we bought a new one. The most realistic tree we could find comes pre-lit. I’m not sure I really like the white lights. Seems a bit cold, if elegant. But we have hung up the old coloured light strands around the archways in the house, so I’m happy.

The dog is happy too. He was scrounging around underneath hoping for some Christmas treats.

A few weeks ago, we had an online charity auction at work. My team contributed several baskets and I ended up having to buy one, because no one was bidding on it. (Somehow it’s just not like the RA auction, in terms of excitement!) One of the items in the basket was a pair of owl salt and pepper shakers, which I wasn’t too keen on. But they actually look pretty good on my table with the Christmas display!

What about you? Have you done your holiday decorating yet? And how’s your holiday spirit coming along in this strangest of years?

  1. Wow!! Did you see those North Shore Mountains this afternoon? Weren’t they spectacular? Couldn’t believe how much snow was on them. Had a great view of them when we were in Vancouver for some shopping.

    • You know, I barely even looked out the window today! I’ll make a point of it tomorrow, though. Hope you’re keeping well. My older son moved out your way a year ago. Unfortunately, with the restrictions, we won’t be able to see him over Christmas.

  2. I’ve just finished putting our (artificial) tree up this afternoon, my decorating is haphazard to say the least. By the time I spent half an hour foofing the branches out (it’s 25 years old and getting tired) I was fast losing patience with the task. Yours’ looks lovely…..I think I need more lights! I bought a new set the other day, battery operated ones which is great, no more fussing about power points and extension leads! Now to get the presents sorted and under the tree………

    • Thank you. I had to do the same amount of “foofing” with this new (artificial) tree! It comes totally un-foofed! Presents are another story… I’ve bought a few stocking stuffers, but that’s about it so far.

  3. Your sitting room with the central Christmas tree in front of the wide window really looks like a Hollywood mansion!!! 👍🏻 I am not nearly there with the Christmas tree. I usually only put it up on the morning of Christmas Eve, but since everything is different this year, I have conceded and agreed to put it up before that… Otherwise Christmas is already full-on in my house. Added some extra hand-made stuff yesterday. If it was me, it could be Christmas all year ’round 😉

    • Lol. And thanks. Well, it doesn’t actually, but it does show well. We chose the furniture for comfort and have the same couches and chairs throughout. We even made the dining room into a TV room, figuring we don’t really do anything formal. I insisted on a cushion for the window seat, but no one really sits there, except the dog from time to time.

I don’t think i could wait until Christmas Eve… my husband’s been wanting to put it up since around the middle of November! Nice that Christmas is in full-swing at your place! We need some cheer about now.

    • Yes! Our main road has white lights on all the trees lining it on both sides. They left them up all year this year, which brings a bit of cheer. I always want to take a picture as I turn onto the street… if it weren’t so dangerous!

  4. Aw, your decorations look so nice. The new Santa is very festive. My daughter loves owls, she’d adore those on her table too. I’m happy to see you’re getting into the spirit. I hope your Christmas is special for you and your hubby. We will get together with family again someday soon. xx
