Saying Goodbye to a Fellow Blogger

It is with great sadness that I share the news that a well-respected fellow blogger and Armitage fan has died. Servetus, the blogger at Me + Richard Armitage for the last 14 years, succumbed to cancer in mid-April.

I was privileged to have considered Serv a friend and will greatly miss her friendship, insight, knowledge, wit, and, of course, her wonderful writing.

For those who wish to leave a tribute or message of condolence for her family, please visit https://www.lewinfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Susan-R-Boettcher?obId=31196583.

For the coming two weeks (May 5th to May 19th, 2024) if anyone without a platform wishes to share their thoughts or tributes, feel free to reach out to any of the following blogs on our contact pages. We’ll be happy to host your commemorations:

Hugs and comfort to those of us who will feel her absence.

Farther along we’ll know all about it
Farther along we’ll understand why
Cheer up my brother [sister], live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it all, by and by

  1. Gosh I just wrote a really, really long comment but of course I don’t think I posted it and it disappeared. Mostly to say I discovered Richard Armitage only a few years ago and somehow found Servetus’s blog, Me + Richard Armitage. And what a happy find it was. Her wit and intellect, analyzing not only Richard’s characters and acting, but prompting rich discussion among the fans on an array of topics. Her posts led me to many other blogs, writings, and a gateway to the fandom; even if I’ve been on the perimeter, I still enjoy all I’ve found here. I wrote her a few times and she replied, most kindly. I appreciated how she shared about the milestones in her own life. I wanted to know more about her and be friends! Wanted to travel to London next year to see Richard in the theater. I kept her last 2 posts in my email wanting to reply. Sadly I waited too long. I just wanted to say thanks, and that luckily her blog will stay. There are many I never got to.

    • Servetus had an impact on many of us and was a pillar of the Armitage fan community. I do hope her blog will stay, as there is so much to discover there. I know she said she was subscribed for the next couple of years. I hope that she realized how much she was valued by all of us.

  2. Sue, sending you many hugs! I just read it on your and Oscura’s blog and i can’t wrap my head around it yet… I’m so sorry, for you and for us all. I was so hoping i’d get to see her in London again one day 😦 Sorry, i’m not very coherent right now, it’s such a shock. Will certainly share my memories of Susan with all, how very very sad …
